My wife and I took our honeymoon on St. Thomas Island in the Caribbean. The Caribbean is such a cool place – a long string of islands each with its own individual character. In a cruise ship, you get to sample several. But when you fly into only one island, you’re a bit stuck. We did take an inter-island ferry to visit a nearby island, but our time there was very limited due to the ferry schedules.
So here’s an option. Fly yourself down the island chain, enjoying the breathtaking views and landing at whichever islands you choose. In a flying car you could explore on the ground to your heart’s content, seeking out that hidden cove you spotted from the air, before taking off to the next island. I can imagine our falling in love with one of the islands and spending most of our time there. It’s hard to think of a better way to explore the Caribbean.

Martin, what a perfect trip for the Switchblade! Last year, I flew from Naples, FL to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, about 1,000 nm, with stops to stretch and for fuel in Exuma, Bahamas and Providentiales in Turks and Caicos. Once you cross from Florida, as you say, it’s just a beautiful, long chain of islands, like a glistening string of pearls on a gorgeous neckline.
On that trip, Puerto Rico was as far as I made it but it was just another short hop, a little further east and south, to the Virgin Islands and beyond. That’s for my first Switchblade trip to the Caribbean.
