So here we are. We now have a flying car that truly frees you for local, in-state and out-of-state travel. Your vehicle is sitting in your garage awaiting adventure. You know that you can’t use local or federal highways for takeoffs and landings, so where do you go?
Finding a list of airports that fit with your flying car’s capability (runway length, surface material, and location) is first on the list of things to do. So how does one find airports that are usable by your flying car? There are national, regional, local, basic, and rural airports. The total number of usable takeoff and landing points approaches 18,000 so any desired departure or destination is probably within a 20-50 miles or less radius of your home. This all means saved time to reach your destination and start enjoying your chosen activity.
Southwest Airlines uses the term, “You are free to move about the country”, but there are only 100 or less national and regional locations that they fly in and out of. If you add all the other air carriers and the need for flight changes and early arrival, your total time to arrive at your destination is often measured in days rather than hours. Your ability to freely move about the country is limited at best.
So now you have a flying car, you have choice of numerous airports and you have a desire to see “it” yourself. Freedom is now becoming free. Now you drive from your home to your selected departure airport and fly to your final destination without going through baggage claim, car rental, bus ride to the vehicle, standing in line for your car, then navigating to your destination! That is freedom!
Learning to use your flying car will become the joy of your life as you plan outings to vistas and activities that you never considered before. Learning to use the assets the US of A provides will also become one of those joys as you learn geography and history associated with your new destinations. Plus you will have the advantage of controlling every aspect of your new flying car just like you do with that Mustang in your garage!

Great ideas, Parker. I particularly like your touring idea for the Switchblade. It’s a flying RV – we just can’t sleep in it (yet ;-). It makes seeing the country a lot more interesting with a lot more options and flexibility!

What am I going to do with a flying car?
I’m a relatively new pilot licensed in 2014. I’ve flown enough to find plenty of problems flying rental aircraft. The last one I rented lost all engine power at 5,000 feet! I landed safely but it was tense.
To own a Switchblade seems to solve all the nagging problems of renting planes. The ground transportation is built in and you have 200% availability when you consider you can drive and fly!
No more looking for a rental plane. No more surprise maintenance after I’ve made plans. No more strange radios and GPS. No more qualifying to fly another model of the same manufacturer. No more working around the plane schedule. When you own a plane you are in control. When you own a flying car, you are free!
So I will routinely fly from Manassas VA to our beach place in Ocean City MD. With no traffic that is 3.5 hours by car with no stops. But, there is always traffic and in the summer season that included miles of backup on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
In the switchblade the trip will be a predictable 1.25 hours. Airport to airport. I have multiple airports too choose from near Ocean City or on the way there. So I can fly past it and drive back a bit or fly short of it and drive the last 20 miles.
I’ve spent time looking at airport destinations within walking distance of beaches and there are very few. So regular planes don’t give me the freedom to go where I want and when I want.
With a flying car I can go anyplace I can drive but a lot faster.
Renting planes on holidays is very difficult and there is always a daily minimum of flying hours to pay for each day of your trip. Bah! Not with a Switchblade.
With a Switchblade you won’t even have a tie down fee…you are driving away. Very cool. No traffic to frazzle you nerves when you are flying. You have a scenic view on your flight.
The other magic is that if the weather gets bad for flying you can land at any public airport on the way and drive on. No way you can do that in a regular plane.
For weekend trips a flying car is perfect because of the driving option. But there is another way to go.
Touring is practical in a Switchblade. Fly to a destination, drive to the local sites, and spend the night. Next day do the same. You can cross the country and see all the attractions without changing vehicles. This has never been possible in a plane before.
This is a revolution in travel. A flying car is the most flexible way to go for travel or to just fly.
I have an airplane already but It’s nothing like a Switchblade. My flying car is on order.
Of course it will be fun to show the Switchblade at car shows, motorcycle shows, and
air shows too.

Every time I drive down a road and see a sign for a local or municipal airport, I imagine a sign that reads “If you were driving a Switchblade, you’d be flying home right now!”
Can’t wait for my Switchblade!!

Wow, the future is here! This makes it so real that we can (will!) actually be traveling this way in the very near future. That gets me thinking of so many ways to use a flying car – more vacations, nice day trips to nearby places! And for business people they can get so much more done. Makes it more easy to travel to see family… The possibilities are actually endless! Thank you, can’t wait to see more!!
